Job description
About the Opportunity
An established multidisciplinary consultancy in Manukau is seeking an experienced Survey Technician to step in right away on a temporary cover assignment. This opportunity suits someone who enjoys contract-based work, is comfortable working independently, and can contribute immediately across a broad mix of land development and general surveying assignments.
The role is based in Auckland and combines field and office responsibilities. It is ideal for a confident technician who can arrive on site prepared, work autonomously, and keep deliverables moving without needing close supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out field surveying tasks on your own, covering cadastral, construction, topographic, precise levelling, as-built, and HIRB surveys.
- Use 12d and Landonline for office-based calculations, data processing, and related technical work.
- Operate and look after survey instruments such as GPS units, total stations, and robotic total stations.
- Complete quality assurance checks accurately and maintain clear records of fieldwork.
- Follow site health and safety requirements at all times.
- Work with project managers and other teams to produce drawings, reports, and client deliverables to a high standard.
What We Are Looking For
This is a hands-on role for someone who can begin contributing from day one. Training will not be provided, so the right person should already be comfortable working independently in the field and handling a fast-moving workload.
- Demonstrated ability to work alone in the field and manage surveying work without close oversight.
- Practical experience using 12d software and Landonline.
- Strong grounding in land development surveying, with solid mathematical ability and confidence using modern survey technology.
- Clear communication skills for dealing with internal engineering and planning teams, as well as outside stakeholders.
How to Apply
Applicants should send a CV along with a short cover letter outlining availability and relevant experience.
Equal Opportunity
The employer values diversity and encourages applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
Additional Information
