About QuickCircuit

QuickCircuit – Electronics Manufacturing Solutions has been an established partner for both local and international businesses since 1999, offering comprehensive electronics manufacturing services. Their expertise spans from initial prototyping to full-scale production and distribution, including component sourcing, PCB assembly, box-build, warehousing, and direct delivery. Operating from Auckland and Christchurch, the company prides itself on providing a single trusted supplier approach. The commitment to quality is upheld through AS9100 Aerospace Certification, ensuring stringent manufacturing standards across all products and processes.

Role Overview

This full-time, on-site position at the Auckland facility involves operating and overseeing surface-mount technology (SMT) equipment essential for printed circuit board (PCB) assembly. Responsibilities encompass setting up and loading components, validating job specifications, performing both visual and automated inspections, and undertaking basic equipment maintenance and calibration.

The role also includes diagnosing and resolving production challenges, cooperating with production and quality teams to meet delivery and quality benchmarks, and documenting production metrics in adherence to company protocols and AS9100 standards. The SMT operator must strictly follow safety regulations and actively participate in refining manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in running SMT manufacturing machinery such as pick-and-place units, solder paste printers, and reflow ovens.
  • Proficient understanding of PCB assembly steps, including component identification, placement techniques, and managing fine-pitch and intricate package types.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation like assembly schematics, bills of materials, work instructions, and quality criteria.
  • Familiarity with electronics manufacturing quality practices including visual inspection methodologies, automated optical inspection (AOI) use, IPC standards compliance, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) controls.
  • Problem-solving skills related to common SMT production issues, machine faults, and assembly defects troubleshooting.
  • Meticulous attention to detail combined with dexterity suited to handle minute electronic components and repetitive tasks proficiently.
  • Strong communication capabilities and teamwork orientation, enabling effective collaboration with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams.
  • Previous involvement in electronics manufacturing or SMT environments is advantageous; familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality management systems is preferred.
  • Commitment to safety standards and enthusiasm for continuous improvement within a dynamic manufacturing setting.
