Job description

Role Overview

This position involves supporting individuals in the Manawatu and Rangitikei regions to develop greater independence and practical life skills. Duties include assisting with transportation, employment, financial management, and meal preparation. In certain settings, additional personal care such as shopping, cleaning, showering, and medication assistance may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with complex behavioral and medical needs, promoting safety and positive behavior.
  • Manage and respond confidently to challenging situations requiring physical resilience and risk management.
  • Work flexible shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and overnight periods across the Manawatu/Rangitikei districts.

Candidate Profile

  • No previous health or disability sector experience required; enthusiasm and a positive mindset towards a support worker career are highly valued.
  • Experience in healthcare is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Willingness and availability to work flexible shifts including weekends and sleepover shifts.
  • Proficient in using computers and tablets for daily tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical fitness to confidently provide required physical support.
  • Possession of a current full New Zealand driver's license.
