Role Overview
The Supply Chain Specialist supports procurement, supplier management, inventory flow, and logistics coordination to help keep projects supplied on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers.
- Prepare scope documents, unit pricing details, and contract-related paperwork.
- Support supplier selection by helping define performance goals and KPIs.
- Set up and update vendor scorecards.
- Make sure project RFPs clearly outline scope, inclusions, exclusions, and expected completion timelines, and that they are properly shared and managed.
- Discuss and finalize pricing, terms, volume-based discounts, delivery schedules, and contract awards.
- Handle supplier dealings with consistency, integrity, and fairness while monitoring interactions to protect trade relationships.
- Spot capability gaps among suppliers to confirm they can support projects in the pipeline.
- Streamline procurement activities to lower cost, duplication, and waste.
- Strengthen supply chain workflows, efficiency, and logistics performance.
- Oversee the scheduling and flow of materials and supplies.
- Work out delivery quantities and timing.
- Create reports to monitor materials and equipment.
- Maintain material inventories and related records.
- Watch demand trends and project future needs.
- Support inventory control and the purchase of warehouse materials.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics needs for materials and equipment.
- Build spreadsheets comparing pricing and specifications, then present findings to management when needed.
- Keep price lists current and assist with budgeting for future projects.
- Track and report core metrics to reduce spend and improve performance.
- Review supplier agreements to confirm vendors are meeting service and performance expectations.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in any discipline, or two years of post-secondary study completed.
- At least 2 years of experience working with schedules and deadlines.
- At least 2 years of coursework, training, or experience in inventory control and process improvement.
- Practical knowledge of managing vendor or partner relationships.
- Coursework, training, or experience in communication, project management, data analysis, and digital technology.
