Overview
Microsoft’s Cloud division is growing rapidly, supported by the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) group that ensures the delivery of hardware infrastructure, including AI technologies. CSCP’s mission is to provide customers worldwide with scalable Cloud and AI capabilities through a top-tier supply chain. This team manages all supply chain operations such as planning, sourcing, manufacturing, delivery, as well as supportability, sustainability, and asset decommissioning across Microsoft’s global data center network.
Microsoft’s infrastructure supports over 200 online services including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, OneDrive, and Azure, across more than 300 data centers serving more than one billion users in over 90 countries. The Microsoft Cloud Planning (MCP) function within CSCP focuses on forecasting, demand, and supply planning for Cloud services and hardware, playing a critical role in the success of Microsoft’s Cloud business.

- Craft and implement supply plans, both forward and reverse, that synchronize demand, inventory levels, supplier capacities, and manufacturing preparedness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sourcing, procurement, logistics, finance, planning, and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to ensure material availability, appropriate inventory strategies, and continuous supply flow.
- Analyze various supply-demand scenarios, identify capacity bottlenecks, and assess potential impacts to support informed planning decisions and reduce risks.
- Manage product transitions, scaling of production, decisions on final purchases, and buffer approaches while minimizing excess inventory, stranded materials, and component liabilities.
- Engage with suppliers to resolve capacity constraints, monitor operational performance, and align on build and supply plans.
- React promptly to changes in demand, manufacturing, or deployment by identifying issues, evaluating impacts, and driving corrective measures.
- Enhance supply plan accuracy and efficiency through the use of planning tools, automation solutions, and process improvements.
- Support activities related to managing excess inventory, rework, refurbishment, and redeployment with the goal of optimizing stock and mitigating risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or a related discipline, paired with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in supply planning, operations, or related fields; alternatively, a Master’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent professional experience.
- Ability to satisfy specialized security screenings including a Microsoft Cloud Background Check conducted at hire and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years or Master’s degree plus 2+ years of experience in supply planning, operations, technology-related supply chains, sourcing, and manufacturing.
- Experience in planning and sourcing hardware components within a technology or cloud environment.
- Analytical aptitude for root cause analysis and problem resolution, with a collaborative approach for driving corrective actions and operational improvements.
- Strong communication skills capable of managing stakeholder relationships, resolving challenges, and implementing practical solutions.
- Proficiency with enterprise planning software such as SAP, Oracle, E2Open, and business intelligence tools including SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
