Role Overview and Responsibilities

The role requires a dynamic, customer-focused leader with a minimum of five years' experience to manage supply chain operations. This versatile position demands someone with leadership skills, initiative, and a positive approach. Effective communication and negotiation abilities are essential to foster mutually profitable supplier relationships. Key duties include:

  • Building and maintaining strong ties with current suppliers ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, compliant products while negotiating optimal terms and contracts.
  • Regularly researching and evaluating new suppliers, manufacturers, and products through data-driven sourcing decisions.
  • Managing the Request for Proposal (RFP) processes by gathering pricing and availability details to meet customer demands.
  • Monitoring global commodity pricing and currency trends to inform negotiation strategies and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborating with freight and shipping providers to guarantee timely, cost-efficient order delivery.
  • Overseeing the supply chain department budget in partnership with Finance, managing expenditures and assisting in budget planning.
  • Enhancing forecasting models, inventory control, procurement functions including purchase order generation, and manufacturer communication to maintain optimal stock.
  • Leading and mentoring direct reports to meet goals and enhance skills.
  • Coordinating with sales and marketing to align forecasts with business goals and contractual requirements.
  • Implementing and tracking KPIs to assess supplier performance in service, delivery, quality, and cost.
  • Managing inbound shipments with freight forwarders, manufacturers, and third-party logistics warehouses.
  • Working alongside the QA Director to comply with FDA, CBP, and CBSA regulations.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement focused on cost efficiency, employee engagement, and retention.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary diploma or bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, purchasing, or supply chain management.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience in purchasing or supply chain will also be considered.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experienced negotiator with a track record of achieving beneficial agreements, adopting an assertive yet collaborative approach.
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills to grow and support the supply chain team.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service communication skills.
  • Mandarin language proficiency is advantageous due to regular interactions with Chinese suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Embodiment of company core values in dealings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive in facilitating cross-functional collaboration and eliminating operational silos.
  • Strong analytical, forecasting, planning, problem-solving, and time management capabilities.
  • High attention to detail, self-driven, able to meet deadlines, and capable of autonomous decision-making.
  • Upholds the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Experience in inventory management, planning, forecasting, and familiarity with warehouse operations and procedures.
  • Robust understanding of business processes and accounting systems.
  • Advanced computer proficiency including expert Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas), Access, and ERP software; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake international travel to visit global manufacturers.
