Job description
About the Company
Founded in 1954, Olympic Steel is built around safe, profitable, and sustainable growth. The company sells a broad range of processed metal products as well as metal-intensive branded products. Its culture emphasizes safety, inclusion, employee belonging, and empowerment, while offering the close-knit feel of a smaller team along with the scale and stability of a large, expanding organization.
Role Overview
The Supply Chain Analyst will support the Action Stainless division by reviewing inventory, purchasing activity, and supply chain data to better match supply with customer demand and business goals. The role is responsible for building reports and analytical tools that improve purchasing decisions, inventory optimization, and operational results.
Key Responsibilities
This position works closely with purchasing, accounting, operations, and sales teams to track inventory performance, slow-moving inventory, stock patterns, and supply issues. The analyst will study market conditions and turn findings into practical recommendations that strengthen purchasing strategy and inventory control. The role also contributes to business projects, reporting work, process improvements, and changing operational needs across the division.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, or another business-related discipline. A minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, inventory analysis, accounting, financial analysis, or a similar analytical function is preferred. Background in stainless steel, specialty metals, manufacturing, or industrial distribution is a strong advantage.
Applicants should have solid experience with inventory analysis, aged inventory reporting, and business analytics, along with advanced Excel skills such as formulas, reporting, PivotTables, and data analysis. Experience with ERP systems and inventory-focused environments is also preferred. Strong written and verbal communication, good organization, effective time management, the ability to work independently or in a team, and excellent analytical skills with careful attention to detail are important for success.
Eligibility
Only candidates who are authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship are eligible.
Benefits
Olympic Steel provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid holidays and vacation, a 401(k) match, tuition reimbursement, and multiple chances to earn cash bonuses. The company also focuses on helping employees build a meaningful long-term career and make a positive impact in the workplace, the community, and beyond.
