Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage surfacing operations, specializing in hand paving and chip seal surfacing, across the Wellington region
• Supervise and coordinate sealing crews to ensure efficient resource allocation and high-quality work completion
• Collaborate with foremen to upskill crew members across various roles
• Select appropriate treatments and accurately calculate application rates
• Organize stock inventory and conduct regular reconciliation
• Conduct audits and inspections, maintaining a robust health and safety culture
• Ensure project targets related to productivity, quality, and safety are consistently achieved
• Work closely with the Delivery Manager to schedule and manage current and upcoming workloads
• Monitor financial performance by tracking costs against budget estimates

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrated supervisory or foreperson experience, preferably within civil engineering or related industry
• Strong commitment to health and safety standards
• Knowledge of asphalt and sealing protocols, with practical experience using asphaltic concrete, bitumen, or emulsions preferred
• Technical proficiency in treatment selection, application rate determination, and on-site adjustments
• Hands-on experience with asphalt paving and chip sealing methods
• Track record of delivering projects on time with high workmanship standards
• Leadership skills that foster empowerment and influence others positively
• Effective problem-solving capabilities
• Possession of a full Class 1 driver’s license; WTR endorsement and Class 2 license advantageous
