Role overview

ESPN Creative Studio operates inside ESPN’s Content division and brings together specialists in motion graphics, editing, visual storytelling, production enhancements, innovation, creative operations, and music. The team develops and delivers creative content for ESPN’s domestic and international distribution platforms.

The Supervising Video Editor is a senior editorial leader who oversees daily operations and manages a team of video editors. This role combines hands-on editing at a high level with responsibility for workflow oversight, staff development, performance management, scheduling, and operational coordination. The position also contributes to policy implementation and has meaningful input into hiring, separations, and promotions.

What you'll do

  • Lead direct reports and establish daily work priorities.
  • Coach, guide, and evaluate team members’ performance.
  • Contribute significantly to decisions related to hiring, separations, promotions, and other employment actions.
  • Help build a collaborative and inclusive environment that supports creative development.
  • Work with production and client partners to plan resources and staffing.
  • Monitor editing processes and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Stay current with changing creative and editing technologies.
  • Support training efforts and help maintain department standards.
  • Edit at an expert level across a broad range of projects and platforms.

Requirements

  • At least 9 years of experience editing on a non-linear system.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, coach, and train team members.
  • Strong capability to work effectively under aggressive deadlines.
  • Comfortable using standard business software such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Must be available to work onsite during nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to adjust shifts and days off as needed to support projects and departmental goals.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
  • Vocational school training or equivalent relevant experience is also preferred.
  • Location requirement: Bristol, CT.

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this role in Bristol, CT is $102,500 to $140,900 per year. Actual base pay may differ based on internal equity, the candidate’s geography, role-specific knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, the package may include a bonus and/or long-term incentive units, along with access to medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the level and position.
