About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Supervising Producer to lead a team of video editors and producers. This role is crucial for creating impactful news videos aimed at influencing public discourse on economic and political matters. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in scripting, producing, and editing YouTube content, with a strong command of both technical and narrative elements to craft compelling stories that capture and retain viewer attention. This position demands significant management expertise, a high degree of self-reliance, excellent collaboration and communication abilities, and a commitment to fostering the growth of our brand.

Core Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Director of Video to strategize and execute news-driven video content specifically for YouTube.
• Manage the news team's editors, ensuring adherence to publication deadlines, maintaining editorial quality, and achieving performance benchmarks.
• Implement best practices to enhance editorial quality and video performance across YouTube and other social media platforms.
• Work closely with the Director of Video to assign projects, approve content ideas, and refine story development with producers.
• Maintain an up-to-date publishing schedule, track project progress, and ensure all publishing objectives are met. Develop timelines for producers and editors to facilitate timely delivery and adherence to the publishing schedule.
• Oversee the entire video production lifecycle with producers and editors, including planning shoots, developing visual concepts, reviewing outlines and scripts, and approving final edits.
• Lead the pre-production phase in conjunction with producers, the Director of Video, Production Manager, and video editors.
• Review and refine scripts with the lead producer for all videos, providing detailed feedback and suggestions focused on maximizing YouTube engagement.
• Critique all video drafts, offering clear guidance to editors, including specific recommendations for b-roll footage.
• Coordinate with the Production Manager to ensure timely scheduling of all shoots, secure appropriate venues, and resolve any issues related to footage or freelance videographers.
• Recruit and manage freelance producers and editors as needed to complete video projects efficiently.
• Ensure contracts are issued to freelance producers and editors and that their work is completed according to schedule.
• Conduct regular check-ins with all staff members under the Supervising Producer's management.
• Participate in company-wide meetings and lead regular team check-ins, including thumbnail and title review sessions.
• Proactively identify and address editorial inefficiencies or challenges through collaborative problem-solving with team members.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring all deadlines are met.
• Uphold a high standard of work within a fast-paced and adaptable environment.
• Undertake other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

• Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in video journalism, with substantial experience producing and editing content for YouTube.
• Previous management experience is required.
• Exhibit meticulous organization and media management capabilities.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere is essential.
• A genuine passion for economic justice and progressive political change is highly valued.
• Experience utilizing social media analytics to inform content strategy is beneficial.
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Maintain a high level of organization and self-motivation.
• Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to anticipate the needs of producers and editors.
• Adaptability to work in a nimble environment.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and potentially holidays as needed.
