Position Overview

We are looking for a proactive and results-oriented Supervising Producer to lead a team of video editors and producers in creating compelling news videos. This role focuses on shaping videos intended to influence public perspectives on economic and political issues through sharp storytelling and engaging YouTube content. You will oversee the entire video production cycle, including conceptualization, scripting, producing, and editing. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in producing YouTube videos, strong narrative skills, extensive management experience, and an eagerness to grow and refine our brand presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Director of Video to strategize and produce news-first content tailored for YouTube.
• Supervise and mentor editors in the news team, ensuring adherence to deadlines, editorial standards, and performance benchmarks.
• Implement best practices for editorial quality and video performance on YouTube and social media platforms.
• Work alongside the Director of Video to assign stories, evaluate pitches, and refine narratives with producers.
• Maintain an updated publishing schedule, monitor project progress, and ensure milestones are met by creating timelines for the team.
• Guide producers and editors through all stages of video creation, including shoot planning, visual ideation, script review, and editing oversight.
• Lead the pre-production workflow in partnership with producers, production managers, and editors.
• Provide detailed feedback and script workshops to maximize viewer engagement on YouTube.
• Assess video drafts rigorously, offering specific edit and b-roll recommendations.
• Coordinate shoot logistics with the Production Manager, securing venues and resolving any production challenges.
• Recruit and manage freelance producers and editors, ensuring contractual obligations and schedules are met.
• Conduct regular team check-ins and participate in company-wide staff meetings, including leading thumbnail and title discussions.
• Identify editorial bottlenecks and collaborate on solutions to improve workflow efficiency.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while upholding high-quality standards.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of five years in video journalism with extensive experience producing and editing for YouTube.
• Proven management experience leading creative teams.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Expertise in Adobe Premiere for video editing.
• Passion for economic equity and progressive political causes.
• Ability to utilize social media analytics to guide content development.
• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities alongside interpersonal skills.
• Excellent multitasking ability, self-driven work ethic, and aptitude for teamwork.
• Capacity to anticipate and meet the needs of producers and editors within a dynamic setting.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges between $115,000 annually (remote position).
