Job description
Role Overview
An opportunity is available for a Supervising Pharmacist to join Allcare Hughes Pharmacy in Clane, County Kildare. This is a permanent role requiring either 36 or 40 hours per week. The store operates from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and remains closed on Sundays.
The pharmacy team includes 2 Support Pharmacists, 1 Relief Pharmacist, and 4 Technicians. The store has a manageable volume of items and services.
What the Role Involves
- Ensure that all pharmacy activities comply with the legal requirements governing the supply of medicines under the Pharmacy Act 2007.
- Maintain the community pharmacy to a high professional standard at all times.
- Contribute to health promotion initiatives and the delivery of pharmaceutical care where appropriate.
- Take part in continuing education to support ongoing professional development.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and standard operating processes introduced by Allcare Pharmacy.
- Oversee stock management, including correct receipt, recording, and documentation of goods and services in the dispensary.
- Help protect stock, property, keys, staff, and customer safety in coordination with the pharmacy manager.
- Adhere to health and safety requirements and ensure the team follows them consistently.
- Keep company information confidential and do not share business details outside the organisation without approval.
- Manage Department of Health schemes such as DPS, LTI, and GMS, ensuring submissions are accurate, current, and reconciled in line with company procedures.
- Support the pharmacy manager in maintaining retail standards, including category management, merchandising, and stock control.
- Stay informed about updates to legislation and PSI practice guidance.
Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate should be a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland and have at least 3 years of post-registration experience. Having 1 to 2 years of experience as a Supervising Pharmacist would be a strong advantage.
Strong attention to detail, clear communication, interpersonal ability, and leadership skills are important. The right person should be well organised, capable of handling several tasks accurately in a busy setting, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
