Role overview

Uniphar Group is hiring a Pharmacy Store Manager for Hickey’s Pharmacy in Drogheda, Ireland. This role focuses on leading the store team, keeping daily operations running smoothly, and supporting a strong customer-first culture rooted in ambition, positive teamwork, customer care, professionalism, and reliability.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the store’s overall performance, with particular emphasis on meeting and surpassing targets while creating a positive, motivating environment where colleagues can do their best work and enjoy the job.

Working pattern and support

  • Full-time role of 40 hours per week.
  • Flexibility is required from Monday through Sunday.
  • The store is backed by an in-store team as well as a support office.
  • Shift rosters are shared up to 8 weeks in advance.
  • Training and management support are available through central support structures.

Key responsibilities

  • Review sales performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to protect and improve profitability.
  • Maintain strong standards across both customer experience and team performance.
  • Oversee stock control and cash handling in line with company processes.
  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the store.
  • Balance commercial priorities with the needs of the business.
  • Deliver consistently high levels of customer service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Run store operations efficiently, including cost control and rota planning.
  • Manage colleague performance through appraisals, corrective action, coaching, mentoring, and ongoing motivation.
  • Ensure all activities meet health and safety legal requirements.

Candidate profile

The ideal person will be able to set the tone for team behaviour, place customers and colleagues at the heart of the business, and build strong relationships within the store and across the wider organisation.

You should also be comfortable creating a learning-focused environment, helping colleagues grow through formal and informal training, and offering clear direction, encouragement, and recognition when challenges are faced or successes are achieved.

Experience and skills required

  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Store Manager or People Manager; pharmacy experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to lead, guide, and energise a team.
  • Dispensary experience is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence working in a busy environment and managing difficult situations.
  • Positive attitude, initiative, energy, and willingness to take ownership and make decisions.
  • Strong commercial understanding.
  • Ability to interpret and assess sales figures.
