About the Institute
The Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) in Mainz, Germany, is dedicated to studying gene regulation and chromatin organization by the BAF complexes. Supported by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and Rhineland-Palatinate, the Schick group investigates how disrupted chromatin regulation can lead to cancer and developmental disorders through innovative methods and cell culture models.
Role Overview
We seek a student research assistant to help with both scientific and administrative duties, contributing approximately 12-19 hours a week. This part-time role involves active participation in laboratory tasks and organizational responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining laboratory organization, including managing material databases, coordinating administrative tasks, and handling orders and deliveries.
- Ensure laboratory safety protocols and equipment upkeep.
- Contribute to molecular biology procedures such as cloning, plasmid purification, and mycoplasma contamination tests.
- Support cell culture work with adherent cell lines and induced stem cells.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled student in biology, molecular biology, biomedicine, or closely related fields.
- Strong organizational abilities coupled with a responsible approach to tasks.
- Motivated, independent, and adaptable with excellent teamwork skills.
- Experience adhering to good scientific practices with precise laboratory work.
- Proficient verbal and written communication in both German and English.
