This 12-week paid summer internship provides hands-on experience in both technical and advisory work within a leading consultancy. Interns will be actively involved in meaningful projects and enjoy mentorship from seasoned experts.

Program Details

Opportunities exist in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch for Mechanical Engineering students eager to develop their skills and explore consultancy careers. Interns can choose between two focus areas: Energy & Industrial—engaging with industrial plants, manufacturing, and energy infrastructure; or Buildings—designing mechanical building systems supporting diverse facilities such as hospitals, airports, and educational institutions. The program offers exposure to various projects, technical challenges, and career paths, supported by multidisciplinary collaboration across the Asia Pacific region.

What to Expect

  • Participation in real projects linked to your chosen focus area, whether industrial systems or building services
  • Integration into a collaborative, multicultural team environment
  • Networking opportunities through Aurecon’s early careers community, Limelight
  • Learning from industry leaders and technical specialists
  • Insight into the Graduate Program and potential career progression

Support for Your Growth

The internship aims to enhance your technical abilities, boost consulting skills, and clarify possible career routes. You will receive continuous guidance from team leaders, a buddy system, and the early careers team. You will also attend Intern Learning and Leadership Series to build professional aptitude and understanding of complex project delivery.

Aurecon is proud to be recognized among New Zealand’s Top 100 Graduate Employers for 2026 and values inclusivity with certifications such as the Gender Tick and Pride Pledge partnership.
