About the Role
This position involves contributing to innovative research on the impact of climate change and land use shifts on terrestrial ecosystem productivity, especially within agricultural and forest systems. At the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences – Agrosphere (IBG-3), the project aims to validate non-invasive root measurement techniques by comparing them with traditional destructive sampling methods within an agricultural field experiment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and analyzing root and soil samples in the laboratory environment.
- Measuring and quantifying agricultural root features and essential soil characteristics.
- Processing and interpreting image data using advanced scientific software and AI-supported analysis techniques.
- Organizing, documenting, and managing scientific datasets systematically.
Candidate Profile
- Candidates should be advanced undergraduate or master's students in agricultural sciences, crop sciences, biology, or related natural sciences.
- A strong interest in plant, soil, or agricultural sciences is essential.
- Ability to work independently with a structured approach.
- Willingness and enthusiasm for practical laboratory work and scientific data analysis.
- Previous experience with biological, soil, or agricultural samples is advantageous.
- Familiarity with scientific methodologies or data processing techniques is preferred.
- Proficiency in German and/or English at minimum B2 level according to CEFR standards; certification is recommended.
