Structural Engineer – Bridges

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of bridges, culverts, and other related transportation structures.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, construction specifications, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Review and approve shop drawings, provide field services and support during both project design and construction phases.
• Manage and coordinate activities of the structural engineering team and collaborate with project managers for seamless multidisciplinary project delivery.
• Engage clients and sub-consultants effectively, maintaining schedules and overseeing project outcomes.
• Drive business growth through superior client services, proposal development, and identifying new market opportunities—particularly within the transportation sector.
• Contribute to the ongoing learning and career development of junior staff via mentoring, coaching, and participation in professional organizations.
• Commit to continuous professional development and represent Dillon in relevant associations and industry committees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is essential; holding a graduate degree is advantageous.
• Professional engineering license or eligibility for licensing within six months.
• 7 to 10 years’ experience in structural design, especially in bridges, culverts, and transportation structures.
• Hands-on experience with all phases of design, including producing detailed drawings, contract documents, and tender packages.
• Solid understanding of structural engineering codes, standards, and construction contract administration processes.
• Proficiency with SAP2000, CSiBridge, or STAAD for computer modeling, as well as current versions of AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, coupled with strong report/specification writing and communication skills.

Compensation

Annual salary ranges from $82,000 to $132,000, dependent on qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation outside the stated range may be considered based on individual merit and other non-protected factors.
