Role overview
GMC Utilities Group is seeking an experienced Stores and Yard Operative to support the day-to-day running of its construction stores and yard in Blanchardstown, Fingal, Ireland. Reporting to the Team Leader, this position is central to keeping materials moving efficiently, maintaining order in the yard, and supporting wider operational tasks.

What you will do
- Receive, check, and store construction materials in an organised way.
- Keep inventory records accurate and up to date.
- Work with the Team Leader to carry out routine stock counts.
- Make sure crews arriving during the day are served quickly to avoid delays on site.
- Arrange materials neatly and safely across the yard.
- Help with loading and unloading materials when required.
- Keep the yard tidy, well organised, and aligned with safety expectations.
- Support the planning and movement of deliveries and outgoing shipments.
- Coordinate with logistics staff and suppliers as needed.
- Maintain proper paperwork for goods coming in and going out.
- Follow all safety procedures and site rules at all times.
- Use and maintain PPE correctly.
- Escalate safety concerns or incidents to the Team Leader without delay.
- Work closely with colleagues to keep operations running smoothly.
- Communicate clearly with internal teams, suppliers, and vendors.
- Raise discrepancies, issues, or concerns promptly.
- Support basic quality checks on materials.
- Flag damaged, faulty, or non-compliant items to the Team Leader.
- Take part in inspections when needed.
- Assist the Team Leader with everyday operational tasks.
- Handle extra duties and ad hoc work as assigned.
- Contribute to a positive, cooperative team environment.
