Company Overview
Ping's Fabrics is a retail business that runs ten fabric and textile shops across central to western Jamaica. It serves local communities as well as small businesses with a broad selection of fabrics and related merchandise. The working environment is fast-moving and multi-site, giving team members practical exposure to stock handling, store support, and customer interaction. The company places strong value on dependable attendance, careful work, and a solid work ethic in both the storeroom and the sales area.
Role Summary
The Storeroom Clerk is responsible for keeping the store and storeroom properly supplied, preparing the list of items needed from the warehouse, and visiting the warehouse to collect stock. The role also includes helping customers on the shop floor.
Storeroom Duties

- Maintain the storeroom so that it stays tidy, easy to access, and well arranged for quick movement of stock to the floor.
- Pack and arrange merchandise according to product type in a sensible and orderly way.
- Prepare a stock requisition list based on personal observation and discussion with store staff, including management, about items that are finished or nearly finished in their areas.
- Make regular weekly trips to the warehouse to collect the goods listed.
- Follow a consistent coding system for both floor stock and storeroom inventory.
Customer Support
- Welcome customers as they enter the store or the section you are covering.
- Offer help proactively and ask whether they need assistance finding anything.
- If the customer declines help, let them know support is available whenever needed.
- Work out the customer’s exact requirement and guide them to the most suitable fabric and yardage.
- Cut fabric as accurately as possible.
- Label the cut fabric clearly with the number of yards and the price, using the required format.
- Recommend related products that complement the customer’s purchase, such as thread for dress goods.
General Duties
- Help open the store in the morning and close it in the evening.
- Remove rubbish, plastic, cones, and any other items that should not be on the sales floor.
- Unload deliveries from warehouse trucks.
Additional Duties

- Carry out any other tasks or responsibilities assigned from time to time.
