Role Overview
This position is based in the above-surface stores warehouse at Macraes, Otago. Reporting to the Underground Purchasing & Logistics Supervisor, you will manage the receipt, storage, and issuing of warehouse stock, spare parts, and consumables that support underground mining operations.
You will work a residential roster of 7 days on and 7 days off, with 12-hour shifts from 7:00am to 7:00pm. The role offers a supportive team culture where knowledge is shared, along with on-the-job training and mentoring to help you build or extend your career in mining stores.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, issue, store, and handle inward and outward movement of stock, supplies, spares, and consumables.
- Carry out daily and ongoing stock counts, ensuring inventory levels are recorded accurately.
- Keep the work area safe, orderly, and clean at all times.
- Operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain housekeeping standards for the warehouse and remote yards.
- Follow all safety rules, company policies, and work procedures.
- Enter data and process invoices using Pronto.
- Ensure goods and materials are delivered in a timely way.
- Use effective inventory control and logistics practices.
Requirements
- Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand and hold a valid NZ visa if required.
- Full NZ Class 1 driver licence is required.
- Confident and capable forklift operator; F endorsement is preferred.
- Prior experience in warehousing, logistics, or parts handling within the mining sector.
- Strong computer skills, including Excel and either Pronto or SAP.
- A qualification in warehousing or logistics is desirable.
- High attention to detail for stock counts and data entry.
- Strong safety mindset and awareness.
- Ability to identify issues and put forward practical solutions.
- Self-motivated with a results-driven and improvement-focused approach.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Willingness to take part in periodic inventory checks and continuous improvement activities.
