Job description
Position summary
This role is a strong entry point into retail and customer service at Walmart Canada. The Stockperson/Cartpusher is responsible for collecting shopping carts from the cart corrals, parking lot, and store perimeter, then returning them to a secure storage area. The job also involves delivering friendly and reliable customer support while helping keep the store environment orderly and safe.
Key responsibilities
- Retrieve shopping carts from the cart corrals, parking lot, and store perimeter, and place them in the designated storage area following Walmart-approved methods.
- Keep the required logs up to date and complete the necessary documentation tied to cart retrieval.
- Support customers at the registers by responding quickly when help is needed, including assistance with carry-outs and carry-ins.
- Check receipts when required to confirm proof of purchase.
- Carry out limited cleaning and upkeep tasks in restrooms, following proper chemical handling and disposal rules.
- Use power equipment only according to procedure and complete the required inspection report before operation.
- Follow health, safety, and emergency rules, including procedures related to hazardous communication, lockout/tagout, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Maintain the Cart Retrieval Log at the Customer Service Desk.
- Help create and maintain a workplace that is safe, clean, and free from hazards by following company policies and procedures.
- Wear the required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear and a reflective vest, to improve visibility and safety during cart collection.
- Complete safety sweeps when needed.
Compensation
The minimum starting pay for this position is $17.75 per hour.
Minimum qualifications
Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
