Job description

About the Role

Elders is seeking expressions of interest for full-time Stock Agent positions across Adelong, Tumut, Gundagai, and the broader Eastern Riverina and Upper Murray region. This role is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in livestock agency, whether experienced or new to the industry. You will be part of a company that significantly invests in regional agriculture and livestock services. Livestock is central to many rural communities and a key focus for Elders' future. We are looking for dedicated individuals who value relationships, hard work, local reputation, and exceptional customer service.

Why This Region?

The Adelong, Tumut, and Gundagai area offers a desirable regional Australian lifestyle with strong livestock and mixed farming opportunities, close-knit communities, a vibrant local sporting culture, affordable living, and good schools. It provides an excellent environment to build a career and raise a family, with proximity to Wagga Wagga, Canberra, the Snowy Mountains, and the South Coast, while remaining in a region where agriculture is paramount. This is a place where personal connections matter and consistent effort is recognized.

The Opportunity

As a member of the Elders livestock team, your daily activities will be varied. You might begin your day in the saleyards, spend afternoons on farms advising clients on marketing strategies, and conclude by fostering relationships with buyers, processors, and potential clients. You will be supported by a well-known agribusiness brand while maintaining the autonomy and local backing to cultivate lasting community relationships. Elders is expanding its livestock capabilities in the region, and we seek individuals eager to contribute to our future growth.

What The Role Involves

  • Cultivating strong connections with current and prospective livestock clients.
  • Identifying livestock marketing prospects throughout the region.
  • Offering practical and reliable advice to producers.
  • Collaborating effectively with buyers, processors, and industry stakeholders.
  • Assisting with livestock sales, auctions, and on-property transactions.
  • Participating in local industry and community events.
  • Developing your personal profile, network, and reputation within the area.

What We’re Looking For

We are interested in candidates who are either experienced livestock agents or individuals aspiring to a long-term career in the industry. Key attributes include:

  • Confidence in building relationships and earning trust.
  • Enjoyment of working with producers and rural communities.
  • A robust work ethic and a commercial perspective.
  • A drive for personal and professional development.
  • Willingness to actively participate and support the wider branch team across Elders' service offerings.
  • Proficiency in negotiation to effectively connect buyers and sellers.
  • A genuine interest in livestock and agriculture.
  • Possession of a Livestock Auctioneer Licence and Assessor Accreditation, or a commitment to completing Elders' complimentary training.

What Elders Offers

Elders has a long-standing presence in Australian agriculture, with a forward-looking approach. We invest in our people, capabilities, and services across livestock, agronomy, finance, insurance, real estate, and rural products to support thriving regional communities. For suitable candidates, we provide:

  • Competitive compensation packages.
  • Initial support for new hires.
  • Assistance with relocation and housing, if necessary.
  • Continuous mentoring and professional growth opportunities.
  • Access to a strong network of branch and regional support.
  • Opportunities for career advancement within one of Australia's largest agribusiness networks.
  • The chance to build a sustainable, long-term career in regional Australia.

The 'pink shirt' at Elders signifies individuals with deep agricultural knowledge, unwavering client support, and a commitment to hard work when it counts.
