Role overview
This position is for a Senior Retail Merchandiser focused on non-apparel categories, supporting B2B store operations in Pune District, Maharashtra. The role centers on category ownership, store execution, inventory coordination, and performance improvement across assigned product lines.
Category management
You will be responsible for managing 2 to 3 assigned categories across B2B stores. The work includes shaping product mix, setting pricing direction, and deciding stock allocation according to store demand and sales trends. A key part of the role is reviewing category performance, studying sales data, and recommending actions that improve sell-through and profitability while keeping fast-moving items available and limiting stock-outs or excess inventory.
Store merchandising and execution
The role requires ensuring that products are placed correctly and that planograms are followed consistently across stores. You will carry out regular store visits and audits to confirm merchandising standards and brand guidelines are being met. Collaboration with store teams will be important to improve product visibility and the in-store shopping experience.
Inventory and supply coordination
You will coordinate with supply chain and warehouse teams to support timely replenishment and maintain healthy inventory levels. This includes monitoring stock availability, tracking aging inventory, and contributing to liquidation efforts when needed. The position also involves supporting demand planning and forecasting activities.
Cross-functional coordination
You will work with frontend and store teams to ensure smooth rollout of promotions, product launches, and campaign activity. The role also includes assisting with promotional planning, seasonal merchandising, and execution support for new product introductions.
Performance analysis and reporting
This role involves monitoring category metrics such as sales, liquidation, stock turns, and inventory health. You will prepare regular reports for management and convert findings into practical recommendations. Another expectation is to identify opportunities that improve category results and operational efficiency.
Experience and skills
The ideal candidate should have 3 to 8 years of experience in retail merchandising, preferably in B2B retail, FMCG, non-apparels, or modern trade. Experience handling multiple categories and working with cross-functional teams is preferred. Strong analytical ability, data interpretation, coordination, stakeholder management, and communication skills are important, along with good organization and working knowledge of MS Excel and retail or ERP systems.
Preferred background and competencies
Additional value will be given to candidates with experience in B2B retail or wholesale environments, as well as those who have handled store merchandising execution and category performance improvement.
