Job description
Role Overview
Repton School is seeking a reliable Sports Centre Cleaner to help keep the sports facility safe, hygienic, and presentable for daily use. The role focuses on maintaining a high standard of cleanliness across all public and operational areas, supporting both routine upkeep and deeper scheduled cleaning tasks.
Cleaning Duties
- Maintain cleanliness across all parts of the sports centre, including gyms, studios, sports halls, changing rooms, showers, and toilets.
- Carry out sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and machine cleaning of floors where needed.
- Dust, wipe, and polish surfaces, fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
- Collect litter and clear bins, making sure waste is disposed of correctly.
- Clean mirrors, glazing, and internal windows to a high standard.
- Remove marks and fingerprints from internal glass and glass balustrades every day.
Hygiene and Facilities
- Clean sanitary spaces such as toilets, urinals, sinks, and showers.
- Top up consumables including soap, toilet rolls, and paper towels.
- Help maintain strong hygiene standards, especially in busy and wet-use areas.
- Spot and report damage, faults, or maintenance concerns without delay.
Weekly Deep-Clean Tasks
- Clean hard-to-reach areas, including spaces behind lockers and beneath heavy benches.
- Carry out deeper disinfection work, including descaling showerheads and tile grout in changing areas.
- Dust ventilation grilles and ceiling or wall fans.
- Check cleaning stock and consumable levels and note anything that needs replenishing.
Equipment, Safety, and Procedures
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely in line with COSHH and health and safety requirements.
- Operate machines such as floor scrubbers and polishers after appropriate training.
- Follow all site procedures relating to safety, security, and safeguarding.
- Report accidents, hazards, and incidents immediately.
General Duties
- Work independently and also cooperate with the wider facilities team.
- Interact with centre users in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist with preparing and cleaning areas before sports activities or events.
- Take on other reasonable duties as needed.
