Special Agent: Accounting/Finance Background

Role overview

This FBI special agent role is designed for professionals with an accounting or finance background who want to apply their expertise in a law enforcement setting. The position has been exempted from the federal civilian hiring freeze.

Rather than simply using your finance skills in a conventional setting, you will expand them through investigative work, specialized training, and hands-on exposure to cases involving national security and public safety. Salary

The pay range for this role is $103,236 to $133,200. Compensation is based on base pay, locality pay, and availability pay.

Major duties

• Lead and carry out investigations involving suspected violations of federal law, cyber activity, and public safety matters.
• Use sound judgment, initiative, and flexibility to respond to investigative needs.
• Build and maintain working relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement partners.
• Keep yourself physically prepared to meet the demands of law enforcement service.

Key requirements

• You must be a U.S. citizen.
• You must be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.
• You must be willing to travel when required.
• You must satisfy the FBI’s employment eligibility standards.

Education

A bachelor’s degree or higher is required, preferably in accounting or a closely related discipline such as business administration, finance, or forensic accounting, from a U.S.-accredited college or university. All degrees must be confirmed through official college transcripts.
