About the Role and Organization
The Fraser Coast Regional Council, committed to fostering community development through innovative and quality services, is seeking a GIS expert to join their Assets & Spatial team. This permanent full-time position, located in Hervey Bay, Queensland, offers a salary at Stream A Level 5 ($97,137 plus superannuation) and includes benefits such as a 9-day fortnight.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform spatial research and GIS analysis to support strategic initiatives.
- Create, update, and sustain GIS datasets to ensure accuracy and usability.
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes and develop corresponding proposals.
- Provide support to internal teams on strategic, technical, and procedural matters related to GIS.
- Conduct audits and maintain comprehensive and precise documentation.
Candidate Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive experience in GIS roles involving analysis, troubleshooting, and GIS process design.
- Advanced proficiency with spatial software and an aptitude for quickly learning new systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with individuals possessing diverse levels of GIS knowledge.
Preferred but Not Essential
- Previous experience working within local government environments.
- Background in producing planning scheme maps.
