Job Summary
The Spare Parts Engineer will oversee the identification, sourcing, control, and optimization of spare parts used in industrial machines and equipment. This position focuses on keeping essential components available so maintenance teams can avoid delays, reduce equipment downtime, and maintain smooth plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess spare parts needs for machinery and equipment and determine what is required.
- Keep spare parts lists, records, catalogs, and inventory data accurate and current.
- Work closely with maintenance staff, procurement teams, and suppliers to secure parts on time.
- Study equipment failures and suggest suitable spare parts solutions.
- Use technical drawings, manuals, and specifications to identify the correct components.
- Track stock levels and define minimum and maximum inventory thresholds.
- Assist preventive and corrective maintenance work by providing technical spare parts support.
- Check spare parts quality and confirm that they meet required technical standards.
- Prepare reports, cost evaluations, and recommendations related to spare parts decisions.
- Support supplier evaluation and participate in vendor selection from a technical standpoint.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline and have prior exposure to machinery maintenance, industrial operations, or spare parts management. A solid understanding of mechanical parts, equipment systems, and maintenance methods is important, along with hands-on use of ERP tools and Microsoft Office. Strong analytical thinking, communication, and problem-solving abilities are required, as well as the capability to interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals.
