About the Role

Grand Hyatt Doha is seeking a Sous Chef specializing in Bakery and Pastry to assist the Executive Pastry Chef in managing all bakery and pastry kitchen operations. This position involves ensuring the creation of superior quality breads, pastries, desserts, and confectionery products that meet the standards expected in a five-star hotel. The Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in maintaining consistent product quality, adhering to food safety regulations, and fostering the professional development of the bakery and pastry team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Pastry Chef in supervising the daily bakery and pastry production.
  • Ensure all baked goods and desserts adhere to established quality and presentation standards.
  • Maintain strict compliance with food safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Contribute to team training and development to enhance skills and performance.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Possession of a Diploma or Degree in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or an equivalent relevant discipline.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in bakery and pastry roles within luxury hotels or upscale hospitality settings, including experience in team supervision.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pastry and bakery production techniques, dessert preparation, and food safety standards.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with excellent organizational and communication skills.
