Soil Laboratory Specialist

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Soil Laboratory Specialist to become a vital part of our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The candidate will conduct and interpret soil tests adhering strictly to recognized standards, supporting effective project implementation while upholding quality and safety norms.

Key Duties

• Conduct soil tests following established standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, BS, or their equivalents.
• Review and confirm the accuracy of test outcomes before publishing technical documentation.
• Handle and maintain soil laboratory instruments, ensuring they are calibrated and in proper working condition.
• Adhere to laboratory quality control systems and procedural guidelines.
• Engage in both internal and external quality audits and support laboratory accreditation processes.
• Keep thorough records of tests, documentation, and technical reports.
• Identify and report any deviations or non-conformities and aid in corrective measures.
• Follow occupational health and safety protocols within the lab environment.
• Coordinate with project engineers and technical teams regarding testing needs and data.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Soil Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Between 5 and 7 years of hands-on experience in soil and material testing laboratory roles.
• In-depth knowledge of soil testing standards and methodologies including ASTM, AASHTO, BS, or equivalents.
• Understanding of laboratory quality management and accreditation standards, ideally ISO/IEC 17025.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is advantageous.
• Competency in interpreting test results and preparing detailed technical reports.
• Skilled in operating and maintaining soil laboratory apparatus.
• Good organizational and time management abilities.
• Strong team-working skills and dedication to maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office software.
