Job description

About the role

Alignerr is seeking specialists in soil and water conservation to help assess and strengthen AI systems that are being trained on sustainable land and water management practices. Your subject-matter knowledge will help shape how these systems interpret, reason about, and explain complex conservation topics, improving the accuracy and usefulness of environmental AI outputs.

Role details

  • Organization: Alignerr, powered by Labelbox
  • Work model: Hourly, task-based contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Time commitment: 10 to 40 hours per week

What you will do

  • Examine AI-generated scenarios about soil and water conservation for scientific correctness and practical viability
  • Review material covering erosion control, watershed management, and soil health
  • Spot weak assumptions, unsubstantiated statements, and recommendations that would not work in practice
  • Share clear, structured expert feedback that raises the scientific quality, readability, and real-world relevance of the outputs
  • Handle independent, asynchronous task work and complete assignments on your own timetable

Candidate profile

  • At least 3 years of experience in soil science, hydrology, conservation planning, or a closely related discipline
  • Good command of soil behavior, water systems, and conservation methods
  • Ability to evaluate applied environmental science reasoning and detect where AI-generated content is flawed
  • Comfort working with technical written content and providing precise annotations
  • Self-directed, dependable, and able to work without close oversight

Preferred qualifications

  • Graduate-level study in Soil Science, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or a similar field
  • Practical exposure to field assessments, conservation planning tools, or land management programs
  • Experience with AI systems, content review workflows, or data annotation tools

Why this role stands out

  • Opportunity to contribute to advanced AI initiatives with leading research and technology teams
  • Fully remote setup with flexible scheduling so you can complete work when it suits you
  • Independent contract work offering variety, autonomy, and collaboration with a worldwide expert community
  • Meaningful work that helps improve how AI responds to real environmental science challenges
  • Potential for continued assignments and contract renewal as additional projects open up
