Overview
Join Microsoft as a Software Engineering Intern and contribute to meaningful projects alongside university interns from around the world. This role is designed for students who want to turn their ideas, ambition, and technical curiosity into practical experience while learning from experienced teams.
You will collaborate with teammates to solve real problems and develop innovative software solutions. The role involves applying a strong focus on customer needs and product quality, while also offering technical support to Technical Program Managers and Product Managers. You’ll be encouraged to explore modern technologies, tools, methods, and workflows so you can build solutions that are current, effective, and scalable.
As part of this internship, you will help design, develop, and test next-generation software that supports Microsoft’s goal of empowering every person and organization to achieve more. Interns work on real-world projects with global teams, gain hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technology, and grow in a culture centered on inclusion, learning, and teamwork.

Responsibilities
- Use core engineering principles to tackle challenging problems with thoughtful and effective solutions.
- Partner with relevant stakeholders to clarify and define feature requirements.
- Adapt quickly to new engineering approaches and incorporate them into day-to-day work.
- Act on feedback and industry or internal best practices to improve technical outcomes.
- Manage time well and contribute to software projects within a collaborative team setting.
- Monitor current technical trends and actively look for ways to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, performance, and large-scale operations consistency.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least one semester or term remaining after the internship ends.
- One year of programming experience in an object-oriented language.
- Preferred: understanding of computer science foundations such as data structures and algorithms.
