In this role, you will carry out cycle audits, manage incoming and outgoing deliveries, coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors, and keep accurate records for all inbound and outbound movements. The position also offers the chance to build deeper knowledge in inventory controls, warranty handling, and data-bearing device destruction.

About Cloud Operations & Innovation

The team supports the infrastructure behind products and services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. Microsoft invests in employee growth through career rotation opportunities, diversity and inclusion learning, certifications, and ongoing development. Its data center footprint spans more than 200 facilities across 32 countries, supporting millions of servers and customers in over 90 countries.

Microsoft’s approach to data center operations emphasizes sustainability, optimization, and continuous improvement. The company’s mission is to help every person and organization achieve more, while fostering a culture built on respect, integrity, accountability, and inclusion.

What you will do

  • Handle assigned work items and raise concerns promptly during periods of heavy workload or escalation.
  • Work with suppliers to start warranty claims and manage failed vendor hardware through the full return process, including information handling, packing, shipping, receipt, and SLA compliance for RMA items.
  • Use sound judgment and existing process knowledge to complete tasks with limited direct oversight.
  • Stay attentive to how your work affects ticket handling and inventory/asset management assignments.
  • Keep inventory systems accurate and current, including configuration databases and asset repositories.
  • Track and stage physical inventory carefully and in detail.
  • Support reconciliation efforts and report inventory mismatches.
  • Carry out destruction of data-bearing devices in line with Microsoft policies and service-level commitments when required.
  • Alert management to stock shortages and escalate related issues as needed.
  • Follow security and data-handling policies consistently.
  • Work in a way that reflects Microsoft’s culture and values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus at least 1 year of industry experience in warehouse, supply chain, IT, inventory management, retail, warehouse operations, logistics, or a closely related field.
  • Equivalent relevant industry experience may also be accepted.
  • Ability to satisfy Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening conditions.
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background screening on hire or transfer and again every two years.
  • Must be able to verify Australian citizenship, including a current Australian passport, to meet federal government security rules.
  • May need to complete NV1/2 or PV clearance assessment through the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.

Preferred experience

While not mandatory, it is advantageous to have at least 2 years of industry experience in warehouse/supply chain, IT, or logistics within a large organization, along with experience operating heavy-load movement equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or chassis lifts. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
