About the Role
This position is for an Early Career AI Software Engineer working onsite in San Francisco, CA. The engineer will be instrumental in crafting core user experiences and accelerating user value through AI-driven product improvements. You will contribute to the product by taking ownership of projects with substantial user impact, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including design, product management, and data experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a team to prototype and deliver AI-enhanced product features.
- Lead scoped production implementation projects such as integrating new AI models, adding monitoring tools, enhancing latency, cost efficiency, or reliability.
- Participate in and contribute to evaluation processes including creating, running, and analyzing experiments to improve model and product quality.
Required Qualifications
- Less than two years of engineering experience with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Experience or coursework related to AI/ML through projects, internships, or hackathons with comfort in full-stack product understanding including UI, APIs, and databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Problem-solving skills that incorporate a holistic view and prioritize user impact and business value.
- Adaptability and pragmatic approach to technology use, focusing on effective tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or other AI-assisted development environments.
- Self-driven communication and initiative, responsible for progressing work independently while asking relevant questions.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.
- A thoughtful perspective on technology's societal impact and ethical responsibilities.
- An appreciation for computing pioneers who have shaped the field.
Compensation
Cléopâtre offers competitive cash salaries, equity, and benefits. For positions based in San Francisco, the estimated base salary ranges between 130,000 and 150,000 USD annually. Actual salary depends on individual qualifications and role complexity.
