About the role

Join a remote-first backend engineering team at a fast-growing adtech and martech company that helps marketers plan and run high-impact campaigns across channels. The platform is built for scale, using machine learning and real-time systems to support large volumes of traffic and data. This position is open to candidates located anywhere in Canada.

The engineering environment includes technologies such as Go, Ruby on Rails, Aerospike, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, RocksDB, Redshift, ScyllaDB, and GraphQL. The company operates a real-time bidding system that processes more than 3,000,000 requests every second and manages several terabytes of data daily.

What you will work on

  • Develop distributed microservices with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability, primarily using Go.
  • Work with very large datasets and a mix of data stores such as Aerospike, Elasticsearch, Redis, ScyllaDB, Redshift, TiDB, and MariaDB.
  • Build systems that rely on messaging technologies including Kafka, SQS, and Kinesis.
  • Write code that is efficient in both execution speed and memory usage.
  • Contribute to one of several backend teams, including bidding, marketing execution, or integrations, depending on team fit and business needs.

Team focus areas

Bidding team: Build and tune real-time services that buy ad inventory across web, mobile, CTV, and other channels. This work includes low-level performance improvements, high-throughput infrastructure, campaign pacing logic, and ML model integrations that affect how millions of dollars are spent each day.

Marketing execution team: Help build backend systems for email, direct mail, and SMS marketing, supporting the company’s broader marketing technology vision. This role suits engineers who enjoy greenfield development, event-driven systems, and shaping how martech and adtech work together.

Integrations / solutions team: Create specialized integrations that connect fragmented parts of the adtech ecosystem into a unified platform. You’ll work with internal product teams and external data partners to expand capabilities and build scalable solutions for new use cases.

What the company is looking for

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience as a backend software engineer and brings strong problem-solving ability, especially in data structures, algorithms, and optimization. You should have hands-on experience with relational databases and/or key-value stores, along with a background in building scalable microservices and distributed systems.
