Software Development Lead - Digital Applications

Role overview

Etihad Airways is looking for a Software Development Lead to guide engineering teams building and improving its web and mobile customer applications. This position blends technical direction, team leadership, and delivery management to help create secure, scalable, and high-performing digital products.

Key accountabilities

• Direct and coach development squads working on web and mobile solutions.
• Take ownership of technical execution and keep work aligned with product and business goals.
• Work closely with Product, Architecture, UX, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver digital experiences for customers.
• Lead Agile delivery by tracking risks, dependencies, and committed timelines.
• Offer technical input on architecture, cloud platforms, APIs, and mobile technologies.
• Set engineering standards for coding quality, testing, CI/CD, security, and platform stability.
• Promote automation, DevOps practices, and up-to-date software engineering methods.
• Oversee team performance, skill growth, and workforce planning.
• Track engineering KPIs and support ongoing improvement.

Education and experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar discipline is required.
• You should have at least 7 years of software development experience, including 5 or more years leading development teams.
• Experience delivering large-scale web and mobile applications is needed.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of modern software architecture, microservices, cloud platforms, and DevOps is essential.

Technology stack exposure

• Web technologies: React, Angular, IONIC framework, and Node.js.
• Backend technologies: Java, Spring Boot, APIs, and microservices.
• Mobile technologies: Android with Kotlin and/or iOS with Swift, plus Capacitor.
• Cloud and DevOps tools: AWS or Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
