Job description
Role overview
Kea Kids News is looking for a talented social media professional to join its team in Auckland. The role supports a well-known local kids’ news programme and focuses on building engaging digital content around the show’s stories and audience.
What you’ll do
You will shape and run content across key social channels, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. The role also involves planning playful promotions and brand collaborations, building a stronger social presence, and improving the performance of posts through better reach, engagement, and conversions.
On a weekly basis, you’ll draft captions and posts, line up visual content, keep the posting calendar organised, and stay active in the community by tracking comments and messages and replying to audience interactions. Since the show publishes four news stories each week featuring kids, there is a steady flow of fresh content to work with.
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate should bring proven experience in content creation and social channel management, along with solid capability in social media marketing and optimisation. Strong written communication is important, as the role requires writing lively, engaging copy for a young audience and its viewers.
You should be comfortable working with major platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, and able to use analytics tools to measure content performance. Good organisation, time management, creativity, attention to detail, and a sense of humour will all help you succeed in the role. A strong sense of duty of care is essential because the work involves children appearing in the show.
Experience in marketing, communications, or digital media is useful. A related qualification is helpful but not mandatory. Familiarity with Premiere, Canva, and Photoshop is preferred.
Additional requirements
A clean police check is required for this position.
Work arrangement
This is a part-time role based in the Onehunga office in Auckland. The expected workload is 20 to 24 hours per week.
Pay
The role pays $35 per hour.
