Position Overview

Fenway Sports Group is establishing its communications and content infrastructure, and this entry-level Social Media Coordinator role is central to this effort. The position involves setting up FSG's social media presence, cultivating an audience, and consistently publishing content across various platforms. Working closely with editorial and communications leads, you will be instrumental in showcasing FSG's stories and perspectives online, engaging fans, business leaders, and the broader sports industry with thoughtful, modern social media content. This role is ideal for an individual with innovative ideas, a deep understanding of social platforms, and a drive to build an audience.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage FSG’s social media accounts across platforms including Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and others as the strategy develops
  • Publish original content regularly across all active channels, maintaining consistency, voice, and quality
  • Build and manage a content calendar in close collaboration with the editorial and communications team
  • Translate business objectives and company narratives into storytelling opportunities suited for relevant social channels
  • Monitor social platforms for relevant conversations, trends, and emerging narratives, identifying opportunities in real time
  • Support the creation of social media assets including graphics, short video clips, and formatted content in coordination with in-house design and production resources
  • Develop consistent platform reporting and bring data-informed insights to the team to drive overall communications strategy
  • Maintain deep knowledge of industry trends across social media, evolving tactics for changing platform algorithms, content trends, and best practice
  • Collaborate with FSG properties and liaise with social and communications teams to amplify content and grow FSG’s cross-platform presence
  • Assist in translating editorial and thought leadership content into formats and copy suited to each platform

Characteristics and Qualifications

  • Possess at least one year of practical experience in social media management, including publishing and managing accounts for a brand, company, sports team, or media organization (personal accounts do not suffice).
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to grow an online audience and maintain consistent content publication across multiple social media platforms.
  • Exhibit strong writing capabilities with a knack for crafting concise, engaging, and platform-appropriate copy that resonates.
  • Maintain fluency across major social platforms such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram), X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn.
  • Proficiency in basic design using tools like Adobe Photoshop and Canva is preferred.
  • Be comfortable navigating ambiguity and thriving in a fast-paced organizational setting that requires adaptability.
  • Adopt a collaborative, team-oriented approach to work, understanding that this is a small team where everyone contributes broadly.
  • Show genuine enthusiasm for sports, the sports business industry, or both.
  • Reside in Boston or be willing to relocate; this is an in-person, full-time position.
