Role overview
Direct Medics Healthcare Recruitment is partnering with Trinity Support & Care Services, an organisation that delivers quality-assured, safe, person-centred residential care and outreach support for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. They are looking for caring and driven Social Care Workers to join teams in Sligo, County Sligo, Ireland.
The position is offered on a permanent basis and involves full-time hours across a 24/7 rotational shift roster. Applicants must be fully flexible with availability and able to complete a compulsory three-week induction and training programme before starting work.
In this role, you will help people lead meaningful and more independent lives while consistently respecting their dignity, rights and individuality.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver tailored day-to-day support that reflects each person’s needs and goals.
- Encourage independence, informed choice, privacy, dignity and respect for human rights.
- Assist with personal care and daily living tasks in a respectful and person-centred manner.
- Help maintain a safe, tidy and supportive living environment.
- Promote social inclusion and involvement in the local community.
- Support people to work toward personal objectives and positive results.
- Use an enabling, least-restrictive approach supported by positive behaviour support methods.
- Share information clearly so individuals can make informed decisions.
- Keep care notes, risk assessments and reports accurate and up to date.
- Safely administer medication in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Comply with safeguarding, infection prevention and food hygiene requirements.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team and contribute constructively to the organisation.
Requirements
- A third-level qualification, or an equivalent credential, in Social Care or a related field.
- Alternatively, at least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar setting such as day services, domiciliary care, residential care, learning disability services or autism support.
- CORU registration, or proof that an application has been submitted, where registration is a legal requirement for the role.
- Prior experience supporting individuals who may display challenging behaviour.
- Legal permission to work in ROI without the need for visa sponsorship.
- Ability to work flexible hours within a rotating shift pattern.
- Willingness to attend the mandatory three-week induction and training before commencing employment.
