Job description

Role Overview

The SMO Execution Manager leads the delivery of the organization’s strategic priorities, making sure execution stays aligned with approved objectives, governance requirements, and planned timelines. This position oversees strategic program implementation, tracks progress, manages delivery risks, and works closely with business teams to help turn strategy into measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the execution and oversight of strategic initiatives and transformation programs across the organization.
  • Build, refine, and maintain the SMO execution framework, operating methods, and governance routines.
  • Monitor initiative progress to confirm that milestones, deliverables, and deadlines are met.
  • Partner with business units and project owners to resolve blockers and keep work moving.
  • Prepare executive-level dashboards, strategy progress reports, and presentation materials for leadership and executive committees.
  • Track KPIs, strategic goals, and initiative performance against approved targets.
  • Spot risks, dependencies, and delivery bottlenecks, then propose practical mitigation actions.
  • Support and coordinate governance meetings, portfolio reviews, and strategy execution committee sessions.
  • Ensure strategic work remains aligned with budgets and broader organizational priorities.
  • Help measure benefits realization by assessing the outcomes and impact of strategic initiatives.
  • Encourage strong practices in strategy execution, portfolio oversight, and performance tracking.
  • Continuously improve SMO processes, reporting quality, and governance frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Strategic Management, Engineering, Finance, Project Management, or a closely related discipline.
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in a relevant field.
