Role overview
Square is seeking an SMB Account Manager to join its Account Management team and help merchants get more value from the platform. This position focuses on building strong customer relationships, helping business owners reach their goals, and identifying practical ways Square’s products can better support a diverse customer base. The role reports to the SMB Account Manager Lead and is remote, with a preference for candidates based in a city.
What you will do
- Manage and grow a customer portfolio with multi-million-dollar gross payment volume while also supporting retention.
- Learn each customer’s business needs and use Square to help them move toward their objectives.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell and upsell by uncovering additional customer needs and leads.
- Handle customer questions, concerns, and escalations in a thoughtful and strategic way.
- Contribute to the expansion of the managed accounts program.
- Partner closely with Sales, Support, and Product teams to deliver a strong customer experience across the platform.
- Serve as a product or process specialist for the account management team and share feedback with product managers.
What we are looking for
- 2 to 3 years of experience in sales, account management, or a closely related discipline.
- Proven ability to identify and close sales opportunities while building lasting client relationships.
- Experience managing a pipeline and working toward revenue targets.
- Strong interest in business operations and commercial strategy.
- Excellent organization, analytical thinking, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Genuine interest in how technology can help small and medium-sized businesses succeed.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and drive.
- Salesforce experience is considered an advantage.
- BA/BS degree or equivalent relevant experience.
