Job description

About the role

As a Site Assistant at Ardenwood School, you will help keep the campus safe, tidy and fully operational so it remains a welcoming place for pupils and staff. The role is based at a brand-new, purpose-built primary campus opening in Autumn term 2026 and forming part of The Secret Garden School, an all-through school across primary and secondary sites.

Ardenwood will serve up to 40 pupils with a broad range of needs, including autism and social, emotional and mental health needs. The school is designed to support children from Coventry and surrounding communities, with individual progress, care and wellbeing at the centre of the approach.

What you'll do

  • Carry out everyday maintenance and small repair tasks to keep the school running smoothly.
  • Drive school vehicles and make sure they are maintained in good working order.
  • Look after the grounds and garden so they remain neat and presentable.
  • Act as a friendly, familiar presence around the site and interact positively with young people when they stop for a chat.
  • Take responsibility for purchasing smaller maintenance items when needed.
  • Complete safeguarding, health and safety, and other relevant training.

Benefits

In return, you will receive a salary of £24,796 to £27,694 plus an excellent benefits package, including full induction and on-the-job training, 35 days of holiday including bank holidays, flexible benefits such as life insurance adjustments, wellbeing support, employee assistance, medical cover for costs such as opticians or dentist appointments, high-street discounts, access to attractive working environments and facilities, and a £1,000 recommend-a-friend bonus each time.

Additional information

The organisation places a strong emphasis on safeguarding and the wellbeing of young people. This position requires an enhanced DBS check, which will be paid for by the employer, as well as an online search. The employer is an equal opportunities organisation and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community.

The workplace values diversity and expects staff to contribute to a culture where young people are encouraged to be themselves. A full job description and person specification are available separately, along with the organisation's ex-offenders policy and Child Protection Policy.
