Simulation Assistant

Overview

Saskatchewan Polytechnic is seeking a Simulation Assistant for their Prince Albert Campus to support healthcare education through simulation-based learning. This role requires a nursing graduate with experience in acute care and simulation environments, working part-time hours classified under a full-time schedule for a temporary period from July 15 to December 18, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide and orient new simulation assistants to the Simulation Learning Centre (SLC).
• Coordinate with the SLC coordinator for procurement, storage, and management of lab supplies and equipment, including bi-annual inventory.
• Conduct product and vendor research to ensure quality and value alignment with SLC objectives.
• Prepare supplies and simulation equipment for events, such as installing fluid compartments in simulators and assembling dressing bundles.
• Disassemble and properly store simulation materials after use.
• Support technicians in setting up and dismantling simulation apparatus.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with peers nationally and internationally including vendors, educational institutions, and healthcare leaders.
• Collaborate with faculty and health region representatives to keep practices aligned with current standards, policies, and preferred products.
• Work effectively as a member of the SLC team.

Qualifications and Skills

• Graduate from an accredited post-secondary nursing education program.
• Minimum one year of relevant experience in a health education simulation setting or using nursing equipment and procedures.
• Basic proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Strong knowledge of health education simulation products and procedures.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Good analytical and organizational capabilities.
• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required.
• Demonstrated respect for diversity and inclusive practices.
• Valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Working Conditions and Terms

• Position classified as part-time under the Collective Bargaining Agreement but expected to work full-time hours (36 hours per week) on a temporary basis.
• Work schedule includes 72 hours biweekly with possible evening and weekend duties.
• Temporary appointment not exceeding one academic year in duration.
