About the Role and Organization
Join Queensland Rail's Regional Assets division in Cairns, where the team is vital to maintaining the safety, reliability, and efficiency of Queensland's rail network. Our dedicated maintenance team based at the Portsmith depot is seeking a full-time Signal Electrician to handle servicing on the North Coast and Tablelands lines, from Cardwell to Mareeba.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, repair, and calibrate electrical signalling equipment.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance tasks on signalling systems.
- Respond promptly to signalling malfunctions by diagnosing, repairing, and reporting on failure causes.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation related to signal maintenance and relevant costing systems.
- Provide thorough reports comparing completed work against planned schedules and highlight any irregularities observed in equipment.
- Operate primarily between 7:15 AM and 4:15 PM on a 9-day fortnight roster.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of Certificate IV Railway Signalling.
- Current Queensland Electrical Mechanic Licence or an interstate equivalent transferable before commencement.
- Valid 'C' Class driver's license.
- Proven experience with installation, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of signalling apparatus.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work throughout regional areas of Queensland.
