Job description

Role overview

The Shutdown Planner is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and delivering facilities shutdowns and configuration changes that support planned maintenance and construction activities at JDFPG. The role focuses on creating controlled and well-planned transitions between standard and non-standard critical infrastructure states.

This position contributes to a complex and varied environment and acts as a key technical advisor to project, operations and maintenance, and customer stakeholders across the program site.

Core responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain configuration and procedural documents, including reviews and updates.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee tasks connected to critical infrastructure changes.
  • Develop, update, and manage records and documentation tied to the site’s standard facility configuration.
  • Assess proposed infrastructure and system changes, from concept stage through detailed IFC design.
  • Support stakeholder communication, engagement, and definition of requirements.
  • Create and apply change management practices for critical infrastructure.
  • Coordinate the gathering, integration, and sharing of technical information, recommendations, and guidance for facility systems, infrastructure, and equipment.
  • Provide advice on reliability, operations, maintenance, and life-cycle planning for facility systems and equipment.
  • Ensure all work aligns with site environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as assigned.
  • During implementation, manage the overall coordination between stakeholders, including HV switching activities where needed; training will be provided.

Qualifications

A Certificate IV, Electrical/HVAC trade certificate, or an equivalent qualification is required. Project management qualifications and postgraduate study are viewed favourably, preferably in a relevant discipline.

Licences and tickets

A valid driver’s licence is essential. CPR, an Australian White Card, and First Aid are desirable.

Experience and knowledge

While no minimum years of experience were specified, the role prefers candidates who can interpret technical drawings, schematics, and related information. Strong interpersonal and communication ability is also desirable, along with working knowledge of power generation and distribution, load management, data centre power systems, configuration management, building management and control systems, facilities operations and maintenance, HVAC, project management, and leadership.

Work environment and physical requirements

The position requires the ability to lift up to 10 kg independently.

Security and employment conditions

Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen holding TS/SCI clearance, or an Australian citizen who is able to obtain the appropriate security clearance. Employment at JDFPG is conditional on maintaining the relevant security and medical clearances for the role. The employee may require an Australian Department of Defence TSPV clearance or a U.S. TS/SCI clearance.

All personnel assigned to the work must be at least 18 years old and able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Environmental, health, and safety requirements

All personnel are expected to understand and comply with site environmental, health, and safety obligations. Workers must perform tasks safely, report unsafe acts or conditions to the supervisor or OASIS PMO/EHS Manager, follow the JDFPG Handbook and related safety procedures at all times, and exercise the right and responsibility to stop work if a task is unsafe or poses a risk to the environment.

Quality and procedure compliance

Employees are required to follow the OASIS Quality Program, work in line with the Quality System documents and customer contracts, and understand their responsibilities related to quality management and customer satisfaction. They must also read, understand, and apply all relevant operational, safety, quality, and environmental plans, procedures, and policies associated with the role.
