Service Employee

Role Overview

The Service Employee is responsible for fueling and maintaining all school buses, activity buses, and commercial buses in partnership with the Maintenance Department. Duties include dispensing fuel, monitoring oil levels, keeping precise recordings, stocking necessary supplies, and coordinating bus movements to ensure safety. Basic upkeep of facilities and grounds is also part of this role. This position offers a wage of $20 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening gates to the bus lot and inspecting parking areas to facilitate timely bus dispatches, including repositioning buses to prevent traffic obstruction.
• Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports such as Bulk Fuel Receiving, Fuel Variance, Month-end Closing, and Meter Calibration reports.
• Alerting the Location Manager or appointed individual when fuel deliveries are needed and ensuring correct stick readings are recorded pre- and post-delivery.
• Checking and filling fluids including oil, antifreeze, power steering, transmission, brake, windshield washer fluids, and inspecting belts on buses being fueled.
• Performing light interior and exterior bus maintenance as required.
• Undertaking additional management-assigned tasks and directives as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Completion of high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of bus maintenance procedures.
• Willingness and capability to learn maintenance skills.
• Must pass a background check.
