Role Overview

The Senior Vice President of Operations serves as an executive leader within the MSO, collaborating closely with physician practice leadership to optimize operations, financial outcomes, and sustainable expansion across a range of physician practices. Reporting to the COO, this position holds full accountability for portfolio performance, overseeing practice quantity, regional reach, and annual revenue growth aligned with OneOncology's expansion. The role is designed to scale in responsibility as the organization grows, offering increasing scope over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the P&L for an assigned portfolio of practices, managing revenue, margins, EBITDA, and cash flow against budgets and strategic objectives.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning alongside practice leadership and MSO Finance; ensure financial outcomes support reinvestment, physician compensation, and growth.
  • Convert financial data into actionable intelligence for physician partners, enhancing financial literacy to ensure decisions are economically sound.
  • Identify and act on opportunities for margin enhancement across labor, supply chain, payor mix, pharmaceutical economics, and ancillary services.
  • Collaborate with physician leaders and administrators to boost operational metrics including access, throughput, patient satisfaction, clinical quality, and staff engagement.
  • Coordinate MSO functional teams (Finance, Accounting, Revenue Cycle Management, IT, Compliance, HR, Procurement, Clinical Operations) to align with practice goals and function as true partners.
  • Implement national company initiatives tailored to local practice conditions, cultures, and regulations.
  • Maintain familiarity with state-specific regulations impacting portfolio practices and uphold compliance amidst growth.
  • Develop strategic regional plans in cooperation with practice leadership encompassing service line and ancillary expansion, recruitment, and opening new sites.
  • Pursue initiatives enhancing patient access, community engagement, and competitive positioning of practices.
  • Lead enterprise-wide strategic projects assigned by the COO supporting the maturation of MSO operational capabilities.
  • Establish trustful relationships with physician owners, boards, and clinical leaders, acting as the senior MSO liaison responsible for the partnership.
  • Ensure consistent communication of practice and corporate priorities across executive, MSO, and practice teams to maintain alignment.
  • Advocate for patient and physician perspectives in MSO decisions to ensure alignment with the clinical mission.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support OneOncology's mission of enhancing lives affected by cancer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree mandatory; Master's degree in healthcare administration, business, finance or related disciplines preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of advancing healthcare experience, including at least 10 years in senior leadership within oncology, urology, radiation oncology, or comparable physician-led specialties.
  • Demonstrated direct P&L responsibility and financial leadership in senior roles such as CEO, COO, CFO, Executive Director, or VP Operations within MSOs or physician groups.
  • Expertise in community oncology, radiation oncology, and/or urology practice operations and economics.
  • Experience engaging with or operating within MSO frameworks supporting physician practices is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% on average.

  • Excellent executive presence and communication, able to engage diverse stakeholders from owners to clinical teams.
  • Decisions grounded in financial analysis, budget discipline, and operational data.
  • Understanding of interrelated community practice systems such as EMR, RCM, practice management, scheduling, and analytics and their impact on outcomes.
  • Adaptable, solution-focused mindset prioritizing clarity, action, and accountability.
  • Strong patient-centric commitment that keeps clinical purposes central to every decision.
  • Full attendance and participation expected as an essential function of the role.
