With millions of diners, more than 60,000 restaurant partners, and over 25 years in the industry, the company plays a major role in helping hospitality businesses succeed. Team members have a direct influence on the product, the business, and the experience delivered to restaurants and diners.
This role is based in Toronto, Canada, and follows a hybrid work model with two in-office days per week.
Role Overview
As a Senior Specialist, Payroll, you will strengthen the global payroll function by improving processes, supporting compliance, and helping build a scalable payroll operation. Reporting to the Manager of International Payroll, you will manage complex international payroll activities across multiple regions while working closely with Human Resources, Tax, Legal, Accounting, and Finance. The position is an individual contributor role with a strong focus on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do
- Handle complete, accurate, and timely payroll runs for key international markets, including Australia and Mexico, while also supporting payroll for other countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India when needed.
- Maintain compliance with global payroll tax rules, fringe benefit requirements, stock-related compensation, mobility matters, and annual statutory filings.
- Work with HR, Accounting, Tax, and Legal partners to resolve payroll questions that span multiple jurisdictions and to address compliance impacts proactively.
- Oversee relationships with international payroll vendors and monitor their performance against service expectations and agreed service levels.
- Create and update standard operating procedures and payroll calendars, and look for ways to improve processes and strengthen internal controls.
- Partner with HR Operations to keep payroll data moving smoothly through integrated systems and troubleshoot technical issues when they arise.
Experience and Qualifications
You should bring at least 6 years of payroll experience in either an in-house corporate setting or a professional services environment. Strong knowledge of end-to-end payroll operations is required, including payroll accounting, tax obligations, annual reporting, and data management. Hands-on experience with enterprise HRIS or payroll platforms such as Workday, ADP, or CloudPay is also expected.
Preferred additions include a CPP credential, an accounting qualification, or an equivalent certification, along with professional Spanish language skills. Experience managing third-party payroll providers, designing SOPs, improving system integrations, or supporting payroll audits will be viewed favorably.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected compensation range for this Toronto-based role is CAD 91,000 to CAD 101,000 per year, including commission and/or bonuses. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
