Senior Project Manager

Role overview

This opportunity is for a senior-level project leader to join a major engineering and technical services contractor focused on water and wastewater treatment. The role is based in Dublin and involves leading a wide mix of design-led projects across both greenfield and brownfield environments.

The position reports to the Technical Director and involves guiding a team of project managers and project engineers to deliver important projects valued at up to €40 million. It is positioned as a long-term local opportunity with a strong compensation package.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate a project team made up of design personnel, project engineers, and support staff across multiple projects.
• Keep clients updated on every aspect of projects currently in progress.
• Oversee the overall programme of works being delivered by the project team.
• Assist the Technical Director in achieving contract objectives and meeting company and client goals.
• Monitor and manage the team’s day-to-day time allocation and hours input.
• Work closely with design teams in a multi-disciplinary setting, offering both commercial and technical direction.
• Build and sustain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders from project start through close-out.
• Identify and resolve issues related to performance, scope, cost, and schedule in a proactive manner.
• Plan and schedule deliverables in detail, including the creation of resource-loaded schedules for design and contract administration services.
• Ensure health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures are consistently applied to the standards required by the company and client across all contracts.

Requirements

• A postgraduate qualification in engineering or a closely related field, along with project management credentials.
• At least 5 years of industry experience, ideally within civil engineering, water, or wastewater, including contracting, site supervision, and design exposure.
• Strong understanding of water and wastewater design and operational systems.
• Working knowledge of contract frameworks such as FIDIC, NEC, and Public Works.
• Previous estimating experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project or Primavera for scheduling and programme management.
• Ability to work with BIM modelling tools.
