Job description

About the Company

Boldin is building a financial planning platform designed to help people gain clarity about their money, make better decisions today, and feel more confident about the future. The company’s goal is to make financial confidence available to a much wider audience, not only to a small set of planning enthusiasts.

Backed by more than $20M in funding and growing quickly, Boldin is at an important stage of expansion. This role offers the chance to join a purpose-driven team and directly influence the direction of the product.

Role Overview

Boldin is looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead retention and engagement for PlannerPlus, its subscription offering. New users may arrive through acquisition, but your focus will be on making sure they continue returning, keep seeing value, and remain subscribers over the long term.

The role goes beyond lowering churn. Boldin already serves advanced DIY planners well, and the next step is to make sophisticated financial planning feel approachable enough for a much broader audience. You will shape the experiences that help users feel clarity, confidence, and progress, while building habits that keep them engaged for years.

This is a senior role with significant ownership and ambiguity. You will need to develop a strong product point of view from customer insight and data, stay decisive, and adapt when new evidence emerges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of retention outcomes by defining the right metrics, understanding why subscribers stay or leave, and addressing the root causes within the product experience rather than relying only on cancellation flows.
  • Improve engagement by identifying signals that correlate with long-term retention and creating repeatable habits such as plan reviews, life-event updates, and progress checkpoints.
  • Work with Design, Engineering, and financial planning specialists to turn advanced planning concepts such as tax strategy, drawdown, Roth conversions, insurance, and estate fundamentals into usable experiences for everyday customers.
  • Expand the addressable market by making the platform welcoming and understandable for people who do not see themselves as financial planners, while still preserving the depth trusted by power users.
  • Lead customer discovery through direct conversations, including with users who may be older and may be navigating emotionally significant financial decisions, then convert those insights into focused product bets.
  • Use cohort, funnel, and lifecycle analysis to test ideas and make evidence-based decisions, especially when the available information is incomplete.
  • Communicate the retention and engagement story clearly to executives and cross-functional partners, raising company-wide understanding of customer value and long-term outcomes.

KPIs and Targets

  • Trial cancellation rate
  • Subscriber churn
  • Engagement measures such as DAU, WAU, and MAU

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of B2C product management experience with ownership of retention, engagement, or lifecycle results, ideally in personal finance.
  • Background working on subscription products, with a strong understanding of subscription economics.
  • Strong product judgment with the humility to challenge ideas constructively and revise opinions when better evidence appears.
  • Ability to operate independently, take initiative, and own a domain without needing constant direction.
  • Comfort with data-heavy decision-making, including cohort analysis, funnel analysis, and experimentation.
  • Excellent storytelling skills and a collaborative style when working with Design, Engineering, Data, Marketing, and senior leaders.
  • High empathy for people whose financial situations and life stages may differ from your own, especially older customers.
  • Strong interest in personal finance and enthusiasm for the market.
  • Comfort with startup-style ambiguity, high ownership, and fast-paced execution without losing quality.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience simplifying complex or expert-level products for mainstream users.
  • Background in fintech or close collaboration with CFPs/advisors.
  • Familiarity with modern AI tools.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $150,000 to $178,000 per year, depending on experience.

Inclusion and Accessibility

Boldin welcomes candidates from all backgrounds and encourages applications from underrepresented communities, including people of all races, ethnicities, national origins, abilities, gender identities, sexual orientations, and veterans.

The company is committed to providing reasonable accommodations during the hiring process for applicants with differing abilities. Candidates may also share their preferred pronouns in the application if they are comfortable doing so.

Application Mindset

Applicants do not need to meet every requirement to be considered. Candidates who match most of the role and bring a strong attitude and perspective are encouraged to apply.
