Job description
About the company
1Password is a fast-scaling cybersecurity company that has crossed $400M in annual recurring revenue and has been recognized in the Forbes Cloud 100 for four consecutive years. The company partners with well-known names such as Oracle Red Bull Racing and focuses on helping organizations work securely in a digital world.
Its mission is to improve productivity without weakening protection by making sure every identity is verified, every application sign-in is protected, and every device can be trusted. 1Password created a leading enterprise password manager and helped define Unified Access Management, a security category designed for how people and AI agents work today. More than 180,000 businesses, including Fortune 100 companies and innovative AI-first organizations, rely on 1Password to support secure adoption of SaaS and AI tools.
Role overview
1Password is hiring a Product Manager for its Developer & AI team to lead the strategy and roadmap for Machine Identity. This role focuses on one of the most difficult challenges in modern security: enabling applications, services, and infrastructure to authenticate without depending on long-lived credentials.
This is a high-impact position tied to a major strategic initiative within Unified Access. You will work closely with a Senior Staff Product Manager, engineering, design, and go-to-market leaders to shape how developers and enterprise customers manage machine identities across key workflows. The role carries ownership for roadmap direction, prioritization, and product strategy, with the customer perspective kept central in every major decision.
The company’s long-term goal is to become the universal source for identities and credentials, and this role contributes directly to that vision.
How the team uses AI
Engineering, Product, and Design teams at 1Password use AI across the product development lifecycle to move faster while preserving quality and security. Examples include AI-assisted coding to speed up reviews and catch bugs earlier, research synthesis at scale for product managers, and quick prototyping and iteration for designers using AI-generated mockups.
The company applies the same standards to AI as it does to security: clear principles, human accountability at important decision points, and careful evaluation before anything is released to customers. Candidates are also permitted to use AI tools thoughtfully during the hiring process.
Key responsibilities
- Set and continuously refine the customer-facing roadmap for the Machine Identity area in partnership with engineering and design leadership.
- Take ownership of OKRs for the product area, define measurable outcomes, and lead quarterly planning from start to finish.
- Create and update PRDs, PRFAQs, and related product documentation that align engineering, design, and other stakeholders.
- Manage prioritization on weekly, monthly, and quarterly cycles to keep the team focused on the highest-value work.
- Incorporate customer insights into product direction through research, direct conversations, and structured feedback loops.
- Help shape the broader strategy and execution plan for Machine Identity and the wider Unified Access platform.
- Participate in senior customer and prospect discussions about Unified Access together with PMM and senior product colleagues.
Required qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of experience in product management with demonstrated end-to-end ownership of features or product areas.
- Practical experience producing PRDs, PRFAQs, or comparable product specifications.
- Strong customer empathy, including the ability to collect feedback, identify patterns, and turn needs into prioritized requirements.
- Comfort working in a high-growth, fast-changing environment where priorities shift and direction must often be created rather than inherited.
- Proven ability to work effectively with engineering, design, and go-to-market teams.
Preferred background
- Exposure to developer tools, enterprise SaaS, or security-focused products.
- Experience using AI engineering tools on personal side projects.
- Background in identity, secrets management, or infrastructure security.
Compensation and benefits
For Canada-based roles, the annual base salary is between CAD 113,000 and CAD 158,000. For USA-based roles, the annual base salary is between USD 118,000 and USD 165,000. Compensation is determined using fair market value and internal equity, based on experience and the specific skill set brought to the role.
In addition to base pay, the company offers immediate access to its benefits program, paid time off, equity, and, where applicable, incentive programs.
Benefits at a glance
- Maternity and parental leave top-up programs
- Competitive health coverage
- Generous paid time off
- RSU program for most employees
- Retirement matching program
- Free 1Password account

Work model and location
This role is remote and can be performed from Canada or the US. 1Password is remote-first, but employees should be prepared for occasional travel tied to in-person collaboration, which may include annual offsites, team meetings, and customer or industry events.
The company notes that remote work means working from your home country. Some GTM roles may be hired as in-person hybrid positions in Toronto or Austin, but that does not apply universally and is only relevant where specifically stated.
Culture and values
1Password emphasizes collaboration, transparent communication, openness to feedback, and alignment with its core values: keep it simple, lead with honesty, and put people first.
The work environment is fast-paced and demanding, with a strong emphasis on excellence, adaptability, curiosity, and measurable impact. The company is seeking people who are comfortable with ambiguity, eager to learn, and motivated to solve difficult problems rather than settle into routine.
Equal opportunity and accommodations
1Password is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace. The company does not discriminate on the basis of gender identity or expression, race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, colour, religion, creed, gender, national origin, age, marital status, pregnancy, sex, citizenship, education, languages spoken, or veteran status.
Accommodation can be provided upon request during the recruitment process.
